Val di Cornia with children
Living Val di Cornia with children means to stop at at least in one of the six archaeological and natural parks of the area. Being close to each other, you can visit all the parks within a few days. Among them are the Mineral Park of San Silvestro, where explorers discover the ancient mines, and the Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia, where are collected various Etruscan necropolises of the VI and VII century.
Are part of the area of the protected areas also some long sandy beaches and thick pine forests perfect for the fun of younger children. In addition to this, Val di Cornia is really rich in fascination and interesting ideas for families.
A few kilometers from the beach towards the hills, you will find several small hamlets of clear medieval origin. Ideal for an evening outing with children looking for breathtaking views, art and local history. Among the most suitable destinations are Campiglia Marittima, the ancient Etruscan settlement of Populonia Alta, the villages of Suvereto and Sassetta. Very famous are the localities of Bolgheri, a famous wine production area, Castagneto Carducci and Massa Marittima, a true pearl of Maremma.
