Gastronomy in Val di Cornia
The gastronomic offer of the Val di Cornia territory is able to satisfy every palate. It is one of the oldest cuisine in Tuscany, rich in traditions and customs that are renewed from generation to generation.
The hills, not far from the sea, are covered with vineyards and olive groves from which are produced red and white wines protected by the DOC brand. They are highly appreciated throughout the regional territory and are raising attention even abroad.
The extra virgin olive oil produced locally is no less. It is great to taste on unleavened bread as an appetizer and also as a seasoning for meat, pasta and vegetables.
The best places to taste the traditional cuisine of the area are the historic villages of Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima, Piombino, San Vincenzo and Sassetta. In these small towns are cooked traditional recipes of both meat and fish.
Given the fact that the sea and the countryside are so close to each other, local specialties often have a mix of flavors of the two environments.
